This site has nice short summaries on a range of topics. It's written by James Alatis, former head of linguistics at Georgetown University, so it's quite good.

This a great online gidget that allows you to see synonyms or closely related words in the form of a visual mindmap.

You have to buy it to get regular access, but you can check it out before you do.
